Tame the Devil if you dare
March 16th sees the 2014 running of Red Kite Events’ very own Spring Classic Sportive – the Shropshire Devil.
Starting outside the village hall in Minsterley near Shrewsbury, there is a choice of 48-mile and 85-mile route options set amongst some of Shropshire’s most eye-catching and iconic landscapes.
The 48-mile route has been designed to be rideable by a wide range of abilities with a total of 1400 vertical metres of climbing whilst the 85-mile route is much tougher and presents riders with 2840 metres of elevation. Bring the climbing legs to the 85 miler though and you’ll be rewarded with some of the best climbs around including the Burway, Stiperstones and Long Mountain. Both routes will take in the gorgeous scenery of the Shropshire hills and Welsh Borders, an area superb for cycling with quiet roads and stunning views.
The rides are fully supported and waymarked with one food stop for the 48-mile and two for the 85-mile route. Both food stops will be in village halls with full facilities and will be supplied as always by The Drovers Rest restaurant in Llanwrtyd Wells. Riders can expect delicious homemade cake, flapjack, welsh cakes and savoury options as well as tea, coffee and a selection of High 5 energy products.
Muc-Off will also have their lube and bike care products on hand at the feed stations and at the event HQ for those last minute bike tune ups and preparations.
Rider times will be e-mailed out to all riders within 24 hours of the finish and the times will also be added to the Cyclosport website.
Entry is priced at £25 online with very limited entry on the day available for £32.
