Ash Lea, Minsterley

A surprise

Riding the Hill

Starting in Minsterley this climb is up Callow Lane, and is a surprise - you don't expect this kind of steepness and length so far from the Long Mynd/Stiperstones.

There's a tiny rise just to get out of Minsterley and  then the proper climbing starts with 6% gradients going up through 10% and a few twists in the road.

Pretty soon you are climbing at 14% and then the road curves left and into over-hanging trees for a final 16% challenge.  There's a large shed on the right which marks the top.

Last word
In the midst of the flat valley its a surprise to find this stiff little climb.  Long, too.
